Steven 'Stevie' Cary Whitmire

“Loving Brother and Uncle”

Steven Cary Whitmire, 63, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in Niagara Falls, NY, following a brief illness. Born on February 17, 1949 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Stuart E. and Bernice O. (Kinsley) Whitmire.

Stevie, as he was known by family and friends, was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended Opportunities Unlimited. Stevie enjoyed such things as painting, dancing, music (“oldies” music was his preference), bowling, walking, swimming, some table games, puzzles, coloring, movies, parachute play and skating. He loved cars and anything to do with them such as going to antique car shows.

Stevie is survived by one brother, Stuart D. Whitmire of Niagara Falls, NY; one nephew, Kevin Flynn of Niagara Falls, NY; one niece, Cathy Pasquantino of Youngstown, NY; several cousins and his loving caregivers at Niagara Cerebral Palsy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Nancy Flynn.

The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, January 8th from 4-6 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007) where a funeral service will follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Bette Bond officiating. Private burial will be held in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Cerebral Palsy, 135 Blank Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
