Betty A. (Beahen) Hotchkiss, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at her daughter’s home, while under the loving care of Niagara Hospice. Born on April 27, 1920 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Montie McArthur and Martha (Zeiger) Beahen.
Mrs. Hotchkiss attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On November 11, 1937, she married John Albert Hotchkiss in St. Mary of the Cataract Church. He predeceased her on September 13, 1995. Betty worked for Bell Aircraft Corporation where she was a ‘Rosie the Riveter,’ installing rivets in the aircrafts. She also was employed at local dress shops and Marine Trust on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Hotchkiss was one of the oldest members of the LaSalle Yacht Club, where she enjoyed many friendships over the years.
Mrs. Hotchkiss is survived by two daughters, Sherrie ‘Toddie’ (late Donald) Casale of Wheatfield, NY and Joni (Arthur) Greene of Olean, NY; five grandchildren, Kelly Casale Gantzer, Joel (Mary) Casale, Kristy (Sidney) Saverino, John (Melissa) Serdinsky and Jayson Greene and seven great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by one sister, Mary Norman of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother, Thomas Beahen of Niagara Falls, NY; a special niece, Kelly Ligammari and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one grandson, Donald John Casale; two brothers, Montie ‘Bud’ Beahen and Phillip Beahen and one sister, Irene ‘Rene’ Ligammari.
The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 NOON in the Chapel of the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 12:00 NOON. Interment will be held in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
