Frederick R. Fields, 77, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life, unexpectedly, on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  Born on May 20, 1938 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Cyrus and Wilda (Rolling) Fields.  On August 29, 1960, Frederick married the former Edna Mae King.  Edna predeceased him on August 15, 2015.

Mr. Fields was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools.  Frederick proudly served in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict from October 4, 1955, until his honorable discharge on February 28, 1962.  For thirty-six years, he was employed by General Motors, where he worked as a committee man and union leader, until he retired in May of 1999.  Mr. Fields was known to be extremely sociable and loved to fish.

Mr. Fields is survived by two children, Todd Fields of Scottsdale, AZ and Nicole Fields of Grand Island, NY; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Frederick is also survived by one brother, Edward Fields of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by four children, Lisa Alessi, Kevin LaClair, Shawn R. Fields and Kim LaClair and two brothers, Jack Rolling and William Fields.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 26th from 2-4 and 6-7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara, where a funeral service will follow visitation at 7:30 p.m., concluding with military honors.  Read Frederick’s obituary, sign his guest book and light a candle at www.ottoredanz.com
