Kenneth J. Gonyea, Sr.

Kenneth J. Gonyea, Sr., 73, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life on Saturday, January 16, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House.  Born on August 7, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Leo and Leona (Snyder) Gonyea.  On May 15, 1965, he married the former Clara "Kathy" Curtis.

Mr. Gonyea was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area.  Kenneth attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School in 1960.  He proudly served in the United States Army National Gaurd from February 24, 1964 until he was honorably discharged on February 23, 1970.  For thirty-six years, Mr. Gonyea was employed as a millwright for Great Lakes Carbon.  Kenneth greatly enjoyed working in the yard with his wife, watching football and camping.  

In addition to his beloved wife of over fifty years, Mr. Gonyea is survived by three children, Kenneth J. (Mary) Gonyea, Jr., Kim (Marc) Tibbits and Jerald Gonyea; five grandchildren, Meghan, Ali and Olivia Gonyea and Jessica and Jared Tibbits and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by one son, Kraig Gonyea and two brothers.

Visitation will be on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007) where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 19th at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.  Please visit www.ottoredanz.com to leave a personal message for the family.
