Michael A. Miner

Michael A. Miner, 61, of Grand Island, NY, passed from this life, unexpectedly, on Friday, October 27, 2017 in Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY.  Born on September 21, 1956 in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late William and Shirley (Hicks) Miner.  On March 16, 1982, Michael married the former Ruth Schwab.

Mike, as he was known to family and friends, came to the Niagara Falls area as a child and attended Lewiston Porter Schools.  He then proudly served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, from 1973, until he was honorably discharged in 1982.  Mike loved spending time with his family in all capacities and adored his grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife, Mike is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Byron) Okelberry, Michele (Steven) Ortman and Megan (Matt) Peine; ten grandchildren; his siblings, Bonnie (Kurt) Seitz, Steven Miner, Robert “Bob” (Debbie) Miner, Ron Miner and Rick (Diane) Miner and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 4th, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Lake Ontario Post #313, 434 3rd Street, Youngstown, NY.  Military Funeral Honors will take place at 3:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Salvation Army.
