Roderick Frank O'Donnell, NYSP, Ret.

Roderick Frank O'Donnell, NYSP, Ret., 73, of Wheatfield, NY, passed from this life on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Born on August 21, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Ernest and Frances (Cronkite) O'Donnell.  

Mr. O'Donnell proudly served in the United States Navy from July 12, 1962 until his honorable discharge on August 11, 1966.  Roderick graduated from the New York State Police Academy and for 21 years was employed as a New York State Trooper.  Following his retirement, he served a four year term as Town Justice for the Town of Lewiston.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Mr. O'Donnell is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Pauline S. (Carbone) O'Donnell; one daughter, Kristin (Kevin) Ruggiero of Wheatfield, NY; two special granddaughters, Tea and Livia Ruggiero; two sisters, Maureen (Jerry) Ducette and Helen Patrick; mother-in-law, Lillian Carbone of Wheatfield, NY; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Edward) Wokersien of North Tonawanda, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, Roderick was predeceased by one brother, Ronald (Jacquelin of North Tonawanda, NY) Masters.

Private graveside services will be held in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049
