Vickey D. Baker

Vickey Darzettie Baker, age 51, died on February 2nd, 2018.

Vickey is survived by her mother, Mary Baker (Theodis) and father, Clemmie Baker (Veronica) of Union Springs, Alabama; her sisters, Loria Kendrick (Charles) and Sharon Baker; her children Kristallia Vassel (Antwann) and Demettrius Baker (Tiffany), of Niagara Falls; and her grandchildren, Shariah Charles, Fa’Zarionna Vassel, Danae Baker, Zionna Baker, Antwanndria Vassel, Zaria Baker, Nemeiah Baker, and Kristallionna Vassel. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Lillie (Mau) Davenport; of Union Springs, Alabama.

Vickey was born on March 3rd, 1966 in Union Springs, Alabama. She graduated from Bullock County High School in 1984. In 2004, she moved to Niagara Falls and accepted a position with the Niagara Gazette where she worked for three years. 

Vickey was a great family woman and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a socially active woman who was deeply involved with her family. She enjoyed reading books, playing Bingo, challenging herself with puzzles and Sudoku, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her family and friends will always remember her as a knowledgeable, giving person who everyone could rely on.

A funeral is scheduled for Vickey on Monday, February 12th, 2018 at Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Vickey’s life.
