Shelby Winquist Life story

Shelby Jean (Jolloff) Winquist, 84, of the Town of Niagara, passed away on March 30, 2024. Born on November 20, 1939 in Emporium, Pennsylvania to the late Jess and Bernice (nee Ditty) Jolloff. 

On July 22, 1962, she married Lyle W. Winquist. She worked various jobs over the years including, carborundum as a secretary, a school bus driver, secretary and cleaner. Shelby was an avid volunteer, including with Meals-on-Wheels, Music School of Niagara, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Niagara County, cub scout pack leader, and was awarded Tops Markets Volunteer of the month.

Shelby loved to drive, to include travel, sometimes across the county on her own or with family, loved to make personalized homemade greeting cards for loved ones, was an amateur photographer for most of her adult life, always had a funny story to tell, never met a stranger, and was very outgoing and charismatic. She loved her family and friends, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren:  Xander, “Hey Humpin!”  See, I won! 

In addition to her husband, Shelby is survived by two daughters, Dawn Marie (nee Winquist, Harris) (Noe)Valdez of Zeeland, Michigan and Wendy (life partner Michelle Ruggles) Winquist, of Austell GA; sons, Gregory Winquist, Ormond Beach, FL and Jonathan Winquist, Los Angeles, CA, grandchildren,Haleigh Rose Harris, of Hudsonville, MI, Nathan Winquist and Amber Winquist, Ormond Beach, FL; great-grandchildren, Alexander Beduhn and Audrianna Beduhn, Hudsonville, MI; a sister, Sandra (late Pete) Abramaitys, Virginia Beach, VA.
