December 2, 1923 ~ March 17, 2024 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Lillian Morden Life story

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Lillian “Louise” Morden, a proud long-time resident and business owner (together with her late husband Paul) in Niagara Falls and Lewiston. Louise recently celebrated her 100th birthday at a grand party attended by relatives and friends. 

She was born on December 2, 1923 to the late Marian (Chambers) and Austin MacDonald in Niagara Falls and passed away on March 17, 2024 She married Paul Morden in 1950 and enjoyed 53 years of marriage until his passing in 2004. Prior to her marriage Louise was a graduate from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a degree in English. She taught briefly in the Niagara Falls School District. Paul and Louise were the owners and operators of numerous businesses in the community including the Niagara Museum of History, several souvenir stores, the former Gorge Travel, the former Treadway Inn, among others. They also operated the Best Western Scenic Inn, Travelodge, M. Spitalny & Sons wholesale souvenirs, and other businesses in the local tourism industry.

Louise was a member of the Community of Christ Church, was a former member of the Board of Trustees of Park University in Kansas City, MO., and a major supporter of Graceland University in Lamoni, IA, where its athletic facility bears the name, the Morden Center. She was a long-time member of the Zonta Club and the Tattler Club in Niagara Falls.

She is survived by her nephews, Donald K. Brown and Douglas H. Brown and nieces, Donna L. Frey, Pam Shaw Flowers, Moria Peterson, and Shari Hall.

Family and friends are invited to attend Louise’s funeral service on Thursday, April 18th, at 1:00 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, followed by her interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston , NY and then a Celebration of her Life, from 3 – 6 pm at the Niagara Falls Country Club, where Louise was a member for more that 60 years.  Friends invited.
