Clara M. (Bowman) Hildebrandt

Clara M. (Bowman) Hildebrandt, 102, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at her home, under the care of Niagara Hospice, surrounded by her family. Born on June 29, 1917 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was born to the late John E. And Lily A. (Ritenburg) Bowman. 

Clara was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School and on June 24, 1939, Mrs. Hildebrandt Married Charles P. Hildebrandt in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and was happily married for 58 years until his passing in 1997. Throughout her life, she was a caregiver to many nieces, nephews, neighbors and her aging parents. Clara enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidering, playing cards, singing and being with her family. Mrs. Hildebrandt was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Martha Society, taught Sunday school for many years and worked on the church newsletter. She loved the holidays, entertaining and was well known for her apple pies which she continued to make well into her 90’s. Above all Clara was a loving and giving person. 

Clara is survived by one daughter, Candace L. (Robert A.) Lauzonis; two grandchildren, John J. (Lynne) Burke and Jen C. Regan; three step-grandchildren, Chris Lauzonis, Nicole (Tom) Wills and Jodie (Joseph) Alm; five great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great nieces and her goddaughter, Ruth (Bleecher) Knack. She was preceded in death by her four brothers; Edgar, Lavern, Charles and Frederick, and two sisters; Zetta and Beatrice. 

The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, from 4-8 PM in The Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 24th at 10 AM with Rev. Thomas Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice or Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R.
