Doris Henrietta Thomson-Tyler, 75, of Edgewater, FL, formerly of Lewiston, NY, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on July 6, 1941 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Annie M. (Neilson) Thomson.  

Doris was raised in Niagara Falls, NY, where she attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1959.  She also attended Carnegie Medical Institute, in Cleveland, OH, studying nursing and medical technology.  Her and her husband, Richard, left the Niagara Falls area in 1996 to live in Edgewater, FL.  Throughout her life, Doris had many occupations, but being a mother and homemaker was her most favorite.

Doris was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Niagara Falls and Lewiston as well as the Order of the Eastern Star.  She loved to sew, craft, scrapbook, travel and camp.  Doris was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, whether win or loose. Her favorite quote…..”some days you’re the dog and some days you’re the hydrant.”

Doris is survived by her beloved husband, whom she married on December 9, 1961, Richard B. Tyler; children, Jannine Tyler, Duncan (Raeanne) Tyler and Jennifer Tyler; step-daughter, Susan Nieters; grandchildren, Jennifer (Sam) Tyler-Kish, Danielle (Andrew) Tyler-McAnulty, Bryanne Tyler, Richard “Duke” Tyler, Megan (Andrew) Hovance, Sarah Tyler, Nicole Tyler, Katelynn Nieters, Christopher Nieters and Nicholas Nieters and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Doris (late Robert) Mairs; her aunt, Mary Etta (late Donald) Mensinger; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her two fur baby dogs, Elliott and Baxter that she loved with all of her heart.  In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by step-son, Richard H. (Kim) Tyler and brother, David (Patricia) Thomson.

There will be no calling hours.  A private funeral service celebrating Doris’s life will be held with Rev.
