Esther Jean (Warne) Ferry, 90, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 while staying at Northgate Health Care Facility, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born on July 14, 1928 in Randolph, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold R. and Clarice A. (Mosher) Warne.
Esther graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1946. She married her loving husband, Ronald C. Ferry, on September 4, 1948 in Jamestown, NY. They were married for 48 years, prior to his passing on August 28, 1997.
Esther was employed as an elevator operator at Hotel Jamestown in Jamestown, NY, prior to moving to Niagara Falls, NY. As a wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and arts and crafts. Esther was a member of Niagara Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon for 3 terms, an Elder on the Session Board for 1 term and on the Stewardship Education Committee. She also belonged to the Niagara Wheatfield Seniors, whom met at the Old Town Hall every other Thursday for several years.
Esther is survived by her 5 children, Douglas (Patricia) Ferry of Fernandina Beach, FL, Sandra (Joseph) Bahan of Dunnellon, FL, Ronald K. (Leanne) Ferry of Wheatfield, NY, William (Cindy) Ferry of Greenville, NC and Steven Ferry of Alexandria, VA; 4 grandchildren, Jamie (Brian) Beiter of the Town of Niagara, NY, Chad and Jeremy Ferry of Fernandia Beach, FL and Caitlyn Ferry of Greenville, NC and 2 great-grandchildren, Angelica and Andrew Beiter of the Town of Niagara, NY. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles P. Warne.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 15th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 NOON in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where a funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 NOON, with Rev. Gary Jackson officiating. Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.
