Eva (Carlson) Harvey, 100, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and Spruce Avenue, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at her residence.  Eva was born in Niagara Falls, NY to Andy and Annie (Friberg) Carlson on November 26, 1916, and was blessed with a good long life.

Eva's love of her life was her husband Paul, who predeceased her eleven years ago, on April 3, 2006. Eva met Paul at the A&P Store on Main Street and married on September 15, 1935. Together they enjoyed 70 years of marriage. Eva and Paul believed in traditional values of Love of God, Country, and Community and raised two children with a commitment to those values at Bethany Lutheran Church. Eva was a fervent believer in the value of education and was particularly proud that her children, Maryanne and Andrew, obtained post graduate degrees. Eva was active in the PTA and participated in student foreign exchange programs with the American Field Service. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and loved her yoga classes. Eva was actively engaged in the political process and worked for many years as an election inspector for the Board of Elections. She taught Sunday School and assisted in a day care center at Temple Beth El. She was a machine operator and then statistician at Kimberly Clark and made many beloved friends that she remembered throughout her life. She was a knowledgeable gardener. Eva cared deeply about her family, [including nephews Paul (deceased), Charles, Darryl and niece, Lynda and all their offspring], friends, and neighbors and practiced countless deeds of kindness. She leaves a legacy of love.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara.  A funeral service, celebrating Eva’s life, will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Eva will be laid to rest, privately, with her husband in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery.

Although she did love flowers, we know she would appreciate that any tributes be in the form of contributions to Zion Lutheran Church, 1010 Michigan Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14305 or Meals on Wheels, 1920 18th Street, Niagara Falls NY 14305.
