Joseph Cantie Life story

Joseph Cantie, 74, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his residence.  Born on March 29, 1944 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Palumbo) Cantie.

 

Joseph proudly served in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Boxer, from February 15, 1962 until his honorable discharge on March 26, 1965 and he completed his reserve obligation on February 14, 1968.  Joseph was employed by Preston Trucking and was a 33 year Teamster Union Member.  He served as a volunteer fireman for both North Tonawanda Live Hose and North Tonawanda Active Hose and was one of the founding member of the North Tonawanda Underwater Dive Rescue Team.

 

Joseph is survived by his wife, Carol (Ammerman) Cantie; children, Joey (Lea) Helm, Tina Clevenger, Janelle (John) Heimgartner, Bobbi-Jo (fiancé, Justin) Cantie and Nicole Cantie; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by siblings, Paul (Angel) Cantie, Art (Jan) Cantie, Paula (George) Weilbecker and Lorraine (Larry) Edwards; his fur baby, Charlie and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Denise (Steve) Toth.

 

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 3rd from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with a Firefighter Prayer Service at 12:30 p.m., concluding with Military Honors, all to take place in the funeral chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Hospice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R.
