Mae M. Andes (nee Swendsen) age 90, of Lockport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017. She was born on July 9, 1926 to Ray and Viola (Skinner) Swendsen.  

Mae was the wife of the late Charles Andes. She is survived by her children, Diane Macecevic, Tony Andes, Rick Andes (Kathy) and Rita Koenig (John); her grandchildren, Darla Quintern (David), Michael Macecevic (Christie), Sarah Koenig and Christopher Koenig; her great- grandchildren, Scott and Kyle Quintern; sisters, Rose Race, Arlene Heisner, Joan Felvus and Adelaide Butler; brothers, Bob Swendsen and Pete (Lester) Swendsen and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Cliff Swendsen, Dorothy Moreland, and Melvin Swendsen.   

Mae was an active member of the Kenan Quilt Guild and enjoyed quilting for many years.  She also enjoyed sewing, ceramics and many ways of being creative.  Over the years she has given freely of her time and talents in many ways: Sunday School Superintendent, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Church groups and Senior activities.  Mae spent a lot of time exploring  geneology.  Most importantly, she loved and cared for family.  

Mae’s family will gather to receive friends on Sunday from 4-8 pm in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara, where a funeral service honoring Mae’s life will be held on Monday, February 27th at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery Chapel, North Tonawanda, NY. 

In lieu of flowers for those who wish to honor Mae in the form of a memorial contribution are asked to consider Niagara Hospice.
