Marilyn Rivers

Marilyn Rivers, 92, passed from this life on Friday, July 28, 2017 in Niagara Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.  Born on October 12, 1924 in Tweed, Ontario, Canada, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Goulah) Rivers.

Marilyn attended schools in Canada and came to Niagara Falls, NY in 1958.  She was employed as a waitress at the former John’s Flaming Hearth in Niagara Falls, until she retired in her 80’s.  Marilyn was a member of the former Our Lady of Lebanon Church as well as Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish.  She enjoyed traveling and loved to play cards, especially euchre. 

Marilyn is survived by her brother, Clifford (Muriel) Rivers of Canada and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Simon (late Eva), William (late Alice), Edward (late Eva), Donald (late Lucy) and Earl (late Claira) Rivers and sisters, Ann Irwin, Emma (late Gene) Hunt and Monica (late Ruben) Diebolt.

There will be no prior visitation.  Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 12th at 10:00 a.m. which will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. serving as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
