Mary E. (Ludwig) Doherty

Mary E. (Ludwig) Doherty, 79, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on December 11, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on August 16, 1940 in Lackawanna, NY, she was the daughter of the late William D. Ludwig, Sr. and the late Leona C. (Zitter) Ludwig.

Mary attended local schools and earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from D’Youville College.  She proudly served in the United States Navy from September 8, 1958 until her honorable discharge on December 17, 1959.  On August 21, 1965, the former Mary Ludwig married John Doherty.  She was employed as a Registered Nurse for many local hospitals, retiring from the former Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital.  

In addition to her beloved husband, Mary is survived by a son, Sean; brother, William D. “Randy” Ludwig, Jr. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Noreen Swartz.
