Norbert G. Yager

Norbert G. Yager, 84, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed from this life suddenly on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his residence.  Born on January 19, 1935 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Stella (Czerniak) and Bob Schreck.  On March 24, 1990, Norbert married the former Lois Hunt at the Winter Gardens in Niagara Falls.

Norb, as he was known to family and friends, graduated from East High School in Buffalo, NY.  PFC Yager, proudly served in the United States Army from October 22, 1957, until his honorable discharge on October 13, 1959.  Norb was released from reserve obligations on October 21, 1963.  He retired from Buffalo Pumps, where he was employed as a tester, following 46 plus years of service.  Norb was a dedicated Notre Dame fan and an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, Norb is survived by children, Lori (Gregg) Marin, Luann (Craig) Stenzel and Craig (Michele) Yager; step-children; Martin Joseph “Joe” MacKenzie, Scott (Margaret) MacKenzie and Christopher (Danielle) MacKenzie; a sister, Rita (late Dan) Zandrowicz; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where Norb’s funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 8th at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Father Jim Bastian serving as celebrant.  Prayers of committal and entombment, concluding with Military Honors, will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R.
