Peggy L. (Chamberlin) Tompkins

Peggy L. (Chamberlin) Tompkins, 92, passed from this life on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in Northgate Healthcare Facility, Jeanne’s House, while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born on November 11, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Hazel (Albee) Chamberlin.  On December 15, 1945, Peggy married John H. Tompkins.  He predeceased in October of 1986.

Mrs. Tompkins was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls.  Peggy attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.  She was employed as a secretary for Occidental Chemical Corporation as well as First Baptist Church in Niagara Falls.  Mrs. Tompkins attended First Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church both in Niagara Falls.  Peggy proudly served as a volunteer for Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center until the age of 90.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and cross-stitching. 

Mrs. Tompkins is survived by daughters, Jacqueline (Richard) Ellwood of Orlando, Fl and Cynthia J. Tompkins of North Tonawanda, NY; grandchildren, Tracey (Nicholas) Gamb, Natalie (Joseph) Gallagher, Kathleen (Derek) Artymowicz and Nathan (Brittany) Tompkins; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was predeceased by her son, Bradley (Ginny of Wilson, NY) Tompkins; infant brother, Nelson Chamberlin and two sisters, Ruth Tompkins and June Reed.

Visitation, funeral service and prayers of committal will all be held privately with her family.  Interment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R.
