Alice Isabel Myers (Moodie) born to Beatrice Moodie (Hodge) & Eugene Moodie, has gone from this world to rest eternally with our Heavenly Father. Alice was one of 11 children (Don, Betty, Eugene, Bill, Bob, Dick, Anne, David, Les, George) and grew up to know a thing or two about raising them. As a young lady, she sang for the ‘Sweet Adeline’s’ and worked as a nurse’s aide, likely easing the eyes of the soldiers she cared for. Too bad for them, she soon met Orval Myers, whom she married in 1947. Alice and Orval raised five kids of their own, Becky (Tom Ray), Dan, Jill (Craig Gueglio), Jeff (Tina Tesch), and Marie (Dan Mitravich), and later four of their grandchildren, Brooke, Amber (Christopher Lickers), Fawn (Allen Drabczyk), and Lacey (Daniel Badolato). Many summers were spent with siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews on the river.
Alice was a mother before anything else, but she was also a teacher. Many would remember her from pre k, art class, or Sunday school. She was a practiced and disciplined artist whose talents were displayed in many exhibitions in the western New York area. Outside of that she was a model, visiting New York City on more than one occasion to showcase her beauty and talent. Alice organized wonderful parties with and relished in being one of the gang with our friends. She lived her life to the fullest and taught us all to do the same.
In her later years she spent time taking photographs of the river she raised us on and the wildlife about it. Alice had a house that was always full with her grandchildren. Besides those mentioned, she was visited often by Alicia (Rocciano), Brian, Becky (Handy), Danielle (Lambly), Mickey, Andy, Dan, and Joaquin. Many summer vacations were spent at her house, over the river and through the woods. She kept up on the lives of her 12 great grandchildren and spent as much time as she could get with Luca, Bella, Shaun, Tristan, Fawn, Michael, Addison, Atticus, Scarlett, Gryphon, August, and Flora.
Of all the things she cared for, it was her family and God that she put above all else. As one of eleven, she is survived by many family members, all of whom will miss her dearly. There will be a celebration of her life and display of her artworks held in August.
