It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice McLeod (née Wilson), who left us peacefully at home on August 10, 2024. Her devoted husband of over 10 years, Jerry Albert Smith, was by her side.
Bernice and Jerry met in 2011 and married on October 2, 2013, making their home together in Lewiston, NY. Jerry, a proud U.S. Marine veteran from Indiana, was not only her loving husband but also a steadfast companion and caregiver throughout their time together.
Sadly, predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Scott (Ewan) McLeod. High school sweethearts, they started their family in Brantford, ON and built their life together in Burlington ON, raising their much loved children Lisa Carver and David McLeod and later becoming proud grandparents of Faith and Allison (Ally) Carver (daughters of Lisa).
Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Margaret (Beaudoin) Wilson of Brantford and her 3 siblings; Robert (Karen) Wilson, Barbara Court and Keith Wilson. She was Aunt to Randy & Ric Wilson (Billie), Terry Court (Courtney), Vicky & Dennis Wilson (Jen).
She was sister-in-law to Glen McLeod (Helen) and Donna Fitzpatrick. Aunt to Lori (Norm) Hamilton, Glen (Cheryl) McLeod, Paul (Lindy) Robbins.
Bernice will be remembered for her hard work ethic, her keen sense of organization, and her ability to keep everyone on track. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a fiercely competitive streak. She loved playing and watching sports, especially softball and volleyball, and spent many happy hours playing cards with family and friends.
A lifelong lover of sport, Bernice treasured her years playing in the Burlington Ladies Softball League, where she made many dear, lifelong friends, including Nancy (Rose) and Rod McGrath. One of her proudest adventures was traveling with her team, the Snowbirds, by Winnebago to Dunedin, Florida, where they had the unforgettable experience of scrimmaging with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Bernice was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express.
