CMSgt, Anthony Rosh, USAF, Ret. Life story

CMSgt, Anthony N. Rosh, USAF, Ret, age 69, of Georgia, with his true “home” in Niagara Falls, passed away suddenly at “the farm” in Fillmore, NY, on February 29, 2020, into the loving and merciful arms of Jesus Christ.  Born on January 23, 1951 in Sayre, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony and Geraldine (Stafford) Rosh.  On February 22, 1970, Tony, as he was known, married Dianne Schmelzle, who would was the love of his life and best friend.

Tony attended local schools, graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School and multiple military schools including Loadmaster and Logistics Specialist. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years and for 35 years in the United States Air Force, including duty stations with the 328 TAS, 914th, and Dobbins AFR, reluctantly retiring as a highly dedicated, respected and decorated, Chief Master Sergeant at the age of 60.

To know Tony was to know a Man of God, faith, strength, honor and love.  A colleague stated he “consumed life like others consume oxygen….Tony was larger than life and lived life to the fullest.” He always had time for and to help anyone.  In his younger years, Tony was known as a "force" on the basketball court and even coached his children's’ sports teams.  He enjoyed sports, hunting, and being with his family.  His passions were Jesus Christ, his wife and family, "the farm," the cabin and his deep love for his friends and people.

In addition to his beloved wife, Dianne, whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage, Tony is survived by sons, Christopher (Meredith) Rosh, Benjamin A. Rosh and André Nicolai "Nici" (Janine) Busch; daughter, Rebecca (Norm) Greene: 8 grandchildren; father-in-law, Lloyd L. Schmelzle; siblings, Doris (Billy) Ellis, Catherine (Bart) Holmes and Keith Rosh and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Rosh.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 5th from 2-5 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where a service, concluding with Full Air Force Military Honors, will be held at 5:00 p.m., with family friend, Robert Scott officiating.  Family and friends invited.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R.
