Charles Channell passed away on May 9th, 2025, after a brief illness. Born to Harold and Beatrice Channell on July 5, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio. He served in the United States Army from 1953 thru 1955 in Chinon, France. Upon his return from France, he went to work at the De Vilbiss Co. in Toledo. He left De Vilbiss to begin his retail career at Lasalle’s, a Macy Corp. store in Toledo, where he met his future wife, Sharon. They married on September 14th, 1963, in St. Paul’s Church, Temperance, Michigan. Together they moved to Lewiston, NY in 1968 for him to become the linen and drapery buyer for Jenss. He went on to become store manager of the Main Street and Summit Park store. He retired upon the closing of the Summit Park Store. He was a member of the Niagara Falls Umpire Association for many years. He was very active in sports including baseball, softball, basketball, and bowling. In 1956 he led the Toledo Federation Basketball in scoring with a 24-point average. He loved animals, especially his beloved standard schnauzer named Rudy. He resided in the Town of Lewiston for 50 years.
He is survived by his son, David Channell of Energy, Illinois, his daughter Kristin Mackenzie and her partner Mark Moore of North Tonawanda, NY. His Beloved Grandchildren Kathryn Mackenzie and Aaron Mackenzie. Also, three great grandchildren, Hunter, Skylar, and Milo with one on the way. He had many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years Sharon (Hamilton) Channell, his sisters Willowdean, Merlene, Jeannine, and Carol, also his grandson Troy Channell of Salisbury, MD.
No prior visitation. Donations may be made in his name to Niagara Hospice or Niagara County SPCA.
