Charles 'Jim' Hoy Life story

Charles James Hoy, known as Jim, 71, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on March 15, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born on October 31, 1951 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late James Hoy and the late Mary ‘Louise’ (nee Litten) (late Webster) Cusick.  On March 24, 1972, Jim married Nita A. Ford.

Jim was raised in the Town of Niagara and attended local schools.  He then proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War, from April 23, 1969 until his honorable discharge on September 13, 1973. While serving, prior to going to Vietnam, he met his wife, Nita and in July of 1982, they came back to the Town of Niagara.  Jim was employed as a supervisor for Old Dominion Freight, retiring in 2017.  Previously he was employed as a supervisor for APA Trucking, until their closing and prior to that, while still in California, he was the owner and operator of C&N Trucking, until 1982.

Jim was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time on his boat fishing with his cousin and best friend, Randy Litten.  He also liked competing in local fishing derbies.  Above all, family was Jim’s life and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife of almost 51 years, Jim is survived by children, Michael Hoy and Cathy (Bob) Hoy-Patterson; grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Dubuc, Gabrielle and Noah Patterson and Ryan Guagliano; siblings, Robert (Diana) Hoy, Maryann Hoy-Oka, Annette (Jim) Kitner, Jody LaMarca, Barbara (Michael) Juneau, James Hoy and Adrien (Karrie) Cusick and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins. Besides his parents and step-father, Jim was predeceased by brothers, Terry (late Debra) Hoy and Webster Cusick, Jr. and a sister, Candice Cusick.

The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday, March 18th, from 2-4 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where Military Honors will conclude visitation.
