Christopher E. Hartwick, 56, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on June 4, 2026. Born on April 6, 1970 in Tacoma, Washington, he was the most beloved husband of Melissa L. Mroziak-Hartwick, married on June 20, 2008, adored father of his most precious daughter, Emma Hartwick; and the cherished son of Carl and Linda (Feign) Hartwick.
In addition to his wife, daughter and parents, Christopher is survived by his brother, Jason Hartwick; nephew Andrew Hartwick; brother-in-law, Michael (JoAnne) Mroziak; two nieces, Sarah and Kari Mroziak; mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth (Andy) Calderon; his German exchange-student daughter, Nele Toepfer; a grandmother; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended “nieces and nephews”, and a endless multitude of friends with whom he shared a life of joy and laughter. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Thomas Mroziak, with whom he is likely sharing a glass of Lagavulin.
Christopher was a gifted carpenter and builder, both as a union member and independent business owner. The creativity and physical efforts he has put forth while practicing his craft will preserve his memory and legacy in homes, businesses, and lives of countless people on Grand Island, the Western New York region and beyond.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).
