Cyril R. Clive (NFFD Ret.), 92, of the Town of Niagara, passed into eternal rest on June 1, 2020. Born on October 27, 1927 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Robinson) Clive. On May 28, 1949, Cyril married Margaret E. “Mickey” Hunter. She predeceased him on July 23, 2016.
Mr. Clive was a lifelong area resident, attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. Cyril proudly served in the United States Navy, during World War II, as an electrician and firefighter, from December 18, 1944 until his honorable discharge on October 21, 1947. For 34 years, he was employed as a firefighter for the City of Niagara Falls Fire Department, retiring in 1988.
Mr. Clive is survived by four children, Linda (Dan) Meacham, Darlene (Tom Dougherty) Basile, Robert (Lorrie) Clive and Kathy (Bill) Visser; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and two expected great-great-grandchildren. Cyril is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one daughter, Susan Clive and brothers,Walter, Victor and Duane.
Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the visitation, funeral and interment in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, with NFFD Honor Guard and Military Honors present, will be held privately with Cyril’s family.
