Daniel J. Zimmer

Daniel J. Zimmer, a longtime resident of the Town of Niagara, age of 76, passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2024 at his home.  Born on April 5, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Leo and Ann (Murphy) Zimmer.   

Dan was a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School.  He was employed by the Town of Niagara Highway Department, where he worked as a motor equipment operator, retiring in 2005 after 36 years of service. He was also an auto mechanic for many years. Dan married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Hoch, and remained happily married for 58 years until his passing. 

Dan treasured spending time with his family and friends.  He could always be depended upon to lend a helping hand, regardless of how small or large the task was.  His hobbies included hunting, camping, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, old cars and vegetable gardening.

In addition to his loving wife, Dan is survived by two children, Faye Marie (Kevin) Udut and Daniel Jay Zimmer; five grandchildren, Joshua (Josh May), Tyler and Paul Donovan and Darian and Daniel Zimmer; brothers, David (Tammy) and Richard Zimmer; former daughter-in law, Dineen Miller and many nieces nephews and cousins. 

All are welcome to gather for visitation on Sunday, September 22nd, from 2-5 p.m., with a funeral service following visitation at 5:00 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
