Born on August 16, 1948 in Philipsburg, PA, Denny and his family relocated to Niagara Falls, NY when he was a young child. He graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1966 and later earned his associate degree from NCCC. Denny worked for many years at the Carborundum Co. and at the Durez Division of Occidental Chemical Corp., where he served as a union officer and from which he ultimately retired in 2014. Denny once served as Vice President of the Niagara Falls Jaycees.

Denny was predeceased by his parents, George and Bess (Henshaw) Timko, and his only sibling, Carl Timko. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 53 years, Gail (Imson) Timko,; his children, Melissa Timko, Jeffrey Timko, and Molly Timko (Matthew Bartolini); along with brother-in-law, Wilbur Treichler; sister-in-law, Trish Timko; three nieces and a nephew.

An avid outdoorsman, Denny enjoyed nature, boating, and gardening, and he loved and cared for animals. He was a talented artist and woodworker. His works were displayed at the Lewiston Art Festival and he was commissioned to do various artwork in the community. He hand painted elaborate Ukrainian Easter eggs. After retirement, Denny was an active member of the New York State Archaeological Association (NYSAA), he participated in digs in multiple states, and he maintained a passion for Native American artifacts and fossils.
