Duane L. Frost, 72, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on August 24, 2021 at Buffalo General Medical Center. Born on April 4, 1949 in Silver Creek, NY, he was the son of the late Donald L. Frost and the late Inez (nee Barrus) (late Phillip) Allen. On October 14, 2006, Duane married the former Donna M. Weld. Mrs. Frost predeceased him on January 18, 2021.
Sgt. Duane Frost, proudly served as a rifleman in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War, serving 2 tours, from June 19, 1968, until his honorable discharge on June 16, 1972. He was a life member of the Conrad F. Kania Marine Corps Detachment # 230, where he served as Past Commander and most recently a member of the 2nd Lt. John Paul Bobo Marine Corps Detachment #1118. As a 3 time Purple Heart recipient, Duane was active in the Purple Heart Detachment in Niagara Falls. He was also a member of MODD#37, Past Department of NYS Marine Corps League Commandant, currently the Commander and Life member of the American Legion John J. Welch Post #381 and Life Member of the VFW Post #54. Duane enjoyed camping at Niagara Woodlands Campground and was a western movie fan.Above all he was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and a true HERO to all who knew him.
Duane is survived by children, Robert (Leanne) Frost, Scott Frost, Steven (Amanda) Frost, Bryan (Diane) Croyle, Eric (Ginelle) Croyle, Kimberly Croyle and April (Brandon) Alderson; grandchildren, Stephanie Frost, Robert (Amanda Walsh) Frost, Natilie Frost, Scott Frost, Jr., Aiden Frost, Connor Frost, Annalise Frost, Kollin Croyle, Konnor Croyle, Britney-Bay Croyle, Garret Croyle, Zachary Croyle, Austin Connors and Aubrey Connors; great-grandchildren, Amara Walsh Frost, ElenaWalsh Frost and Ryleigh Walsh Frost and Kaylani Croyle; siblings, Francelia (Carl) Kirschler, Marcia (late Wesley) Brown, Karen Switaj and Rodney Lobe and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and spouse, he was predeceased by half-brothers, Donald Frost and Jack Frost.
The family will be present on Friday from 3-7 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007) where a Military Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment, with Military Honors, will be held on Tuesday, August 31st at 11:00 a.m. at the Western New York National Cemetery, Pembroke, NY. Friends are invited to assemble at the cemetery. For the interment, please contact the family due to vehicle restrictions at the cemetery. For all services, masks are encouraged.
