Eleanor Ruth (Lloyd) Rager

Eleanor Ruth Rager (née Lloyd), age 91, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025 at Niagara Hospice in Lockport, New York.  

 Born on April 9, 1934, in North Mahoning Township, Pennsylvania, Eleanor was the daughter of Max Lloyd and Mary (Depp) Lloyd. She grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings Patricia, Eva, and Scott.

 In 1964, Eleanor began a long and dedicated career at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center as a Surgical Technician. Her commitment to patient care and her colleagues was unwavering throughout her tenure. Even after retiring in 1997, she continued to serve the hospital community as a per diem tech until 2005—a testament to her enduring work ethic and compassion.

 Eleanor was deeply devoted to her faith and community. She was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church, where she served as co-president of the church’s Women’s Society. Her involvement reflected her generous spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others.

 She shared sixty loving years of marriage with her husband, Tom Rager, who preceded her in death. Together they built a life centered around family and service.

 Eleanor is survived by her children: daughter BJ Mettle; sons Mike Rager and Tom (Robin) Rager; grandchildren Rick Mettle and Ashley Rager; great-granddaughter Alysha Mettle; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rick & Sue (Rager) Huntsman. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember her with affection.

 She was predeceased by her parents; siblings Patricia Lloyd, Eva Sheesley, and Scott Lloyd; grandson Cody Mettle; and beloved husband Tom Rager.

 Eleanor will be remembered for her kind heart, loving nature, and selfless devotion to others. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 02:30 PM at St. James United Methodist Church 4661 Porter Road. Lunch will be provided.
