Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (nee Brixius) Burnham Bonette, 99, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed into eternal life on April 25, 2021. Born on March 5, 1922 in Minersville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (nee Haney) Brixius.
Betty, as she was known to family and friends, attended schools in Pennsylvania and came to Niagara Falls in 1942. She was employed as a lab technician and later as a lab supervisor for Carborundum Abrasives, retiring in July of 1981. Betty was a member of the Greater Niagara Federal Credit Union Advisory Committee and enjoyed traveling and crossword puzzles.
Betty is survived by a son, David (Vicki Joseph) Burnham; step-daughter, Barbara Grasso; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, John (late Rosalie) Brixius; sister-in-law, Ida Agnello and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by spouses, Nelles Burnham and Dr. Samuel J. Bonette; a step-son, Michael (living, Cedella) Bonette; a step-daughter, Edith J. (late Lee) Martin and 3 sisters, Margaret, Sarah, and Marie.
Betty’s family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to her loving caregivers, Daryl Chazak, Lynn Guiliani, Kaitlyn Leonard, Christina Newman, Sierra Siegmyer, Lisa Strong, and Martha Tipton.
Betty’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 30th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 237 4th Street, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Jacek Mazur serving as celebrant. Friends invited. Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Masks and social distancing will be required for your safety at all gatherings.
