On October 8, 2020, Francis Albert O’Donnell, Jr. passed away after a brief illness at age 63 in Dallas, TX where he resided and worked as a Computer Software Professional.
Born on July 28, 1957 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the youngest child of the late Francis A. and Mary (DeLoreto) O’Donnell. He went to local grade schools. He began his High School education at Mount Carmel Academy in Canada, transferring to Niagara Falls High School in his junior year, where he graduated in 1975.
He enrolled at Niagara County Community College and started his education in Computer Technology. He decided to move to Oklahoma to work and continue his education. After several years there, Frank moved to Dallas, TX, which jump started his career as a Computer Software Consultant. Through the years, Frank accumulated various certificates and a degree in the field. Learning was a lifelong pursuit of Frank’s, always educating himself and keeping pace with the newest technologies.
Because of his extensive knowledge of the different computer software systems and his ability to provide detailed documentation and tracking for the processes he established and monitored, he was selected to help architect the Y2K conversion of MBNA (currently known as Bank of America) leading up to the year 2000. The successful conversion was one of Frank’s career highlights and help to catapult Frank’s consulting career in Dallas for many years. For most of his career, Frank supported Bank of America as a consultant with various firms in Dallas, including Carlisle & Gallagher Consulting Group (CG) before its acquisition by NTT DATA. Prior to his death, Frank had been a part of the NTT DATA Services FSI Consulting / Banking Practice since April 2019 when he joined the Bank of America account team. Frank had a dedicated work ethic and was always willing to assist anyone.
Frank will always be remembered for his extensive work he did on the genealogy for both the O’Donnell and DeLoreto families. He enjoyed going to area casinos, gambling for fun, and coordinating outings to local restaurants. Those that knew Frank over the years recall his warm smile, and his friendly and positive attitude.
Frank is survived by four sisters; Eleanor (late George) Reece of Niagara Falls, NY; Mary Ann (Ron) Grey of Punta Gorda, FL; Catherine F. (Paul) Gibbs of Port Charlotte, FL; and Frances A.
