Garnette S. Henninger passed away on March 27, 2024. She was born on October 19, 1934 in Philipsburg, Pa. Her loving parents, Beatrice and Ralph Phillips raised her in the Philipsburg Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Chester S. Henninger of Youngstown, NY. She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia G. and (Kevin A.) Sawyer, Pamela E. (deceased Dale P.) Damato, and Patricia E. (deceased Scott D.) Ciadella. Preceding her in death a daughter, Melinda J. (Brian) Hargrove and a granddaughter, Amanda R. Hargrove.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Stephen Hargrove, Aaron (Samantha) Sawyer, Samantha Ciadella, Joseph Damato (fiancé Grace Vane), Leah (Stevie) Schul, Krista Ciadella as well as two great grandchildren, Isabelle Damato and Ella Schul.
During her teenage years she worked at Centre County, Pa. Sky Top Restaurant where she met her husband. After moving with family to Town of Niagara she worked at Niagara Falls Main Street Neisner Brothers. Later in life, she worked as a clerk for Niagara Falls Kmart then in the Lewiston Bells Supermarket delicatessen.
She was a longtime member of Niagara Falls First Christian Church and a member of the woman’s group, Rachael Circle. In Christian service she was a deaconess, an elder, and operated the church food pantry through the Western New York Food Bank. For over 10 years on Tuesday nights, she was kitchen operation manager for hot dinners served at the Kings Kids Program. In her later years she was a member of United Baptist Christian Church, Lewiston. With Chester she enjoyed the Lewiston Senior Lunch Program.
On April 13, 2024 at United Baptist Christian Church family and friends will gather for visitation at 10am followed by service at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations are gratefully accepted for United Baptist Christian Church.
