Gary Crouthamel, 78, of Youngstown, NY, passed from this life on March 1, 2026. Born on November 12, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Miriam (Snyder) Crouthamel and husband of Barbara J. (Campbell) Crouthamel.
Gary proudly served in the United States Air Force from April 4, 1966, until his honorable discharge on February 3, 1970. He was highly skilled in leather repair and took great pride in his craft. Over the years, he trained and mentored many people. He believed that skills were meant to be freely shared in the Lord. His self-sacrificing nature and willingness to help others succeed left a lasting mark on everyone he taught. He will be remembered not only for for his generous heart, encouraging words and the countless hours he gave to others because he cared. The lessons he taught and the love he gave so freely will live on in the hands and hearts of those he helped.
In addition to his loving wife, Gary is survived by his daughter, Johanna Pellegrino; step-children, Michelle Leon, Deidra Leon, Cheryl Leon and Blake (Serena) Leon; grandchildren, Trent, Nathan, Landon, Jacob, Trajan and Ayven and former spouse, Marcia J. Crouthamel. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Donald Crouthamel.
A special thank you to Deidra Leon, Sandy Snead, Mair Jakubowicz and Jacalyn for being amazing caregivers, who helped bring Gary home to be with his beloved wife in his final days. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Niagara Hospice for their support especially, Nurse Jodie a true angel.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Friday, March 6th, from 3-7 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
