June 24, 1962 – November 14, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Stephen Richards, who left us on November 14, 2024, at the age of 62. Born in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Canada, Gary was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness and devotion.

Gary moved to Niagara Falls, New York, in June 2014, where he continued his career as a talented software developer, systems administrator, and owner of his own businesses. Lately, he consulted at Sozo Hosting in Atlanta, and the not-for profit organization Servants for Jesus Christ.  Previously, Gary had worked for software companies Radiant Technologies, and IBM in London, where he was known for his technical expertise and dedication, while simultaneously maintaining his ministry initiatives helping build churches around the world, both physically and faith-wise.

Gary earned an Honors Business Degree from the University of Western Ontario, a testament to his commitment to education and excellence, as well as a diploma from the New Life Bible Ministries in Tennessee. He was a man of faith, deeply devoted to the Church and Jesus Christ, and he spent much of his life praying for and thinking of others.

Gary had a passion for music, playing keyboards in Christian music bands. He also enjoyed sports including hockey, tennis, skiing, and golf. His love for these activities was matched only by his love for his family. Predeceased by his loving parents Burke and Anne Richards, he is survived by his siblings: sister Lisa and her husband Bruce, brother Carl and his wife Laura, and brother Dave and his wife Rita. He also leaves behind his cherished nephews and nieces: Katelin and husband Christopher, Graeme, Michael, Daniel, and Christine, as well as a great-nephew Thomas.

A public church service will be held to honor Gary’s life at 11:00am on Saturday November 23, 2024 at The Bridge, (formerly First Assembly of God), located at 9750 Niagara Falls Blvd in Niagara Falls USA. Gary will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery in Hamilton Ontario.

Gary’s kindness, generosity, whimsical sense of humor and unwavering faith will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a man who always put others first, and his legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire us.
