Gerald ‘Jerry’ Opera, 86, of Wilson, NY, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on November 12, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 18, 1934 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Michael and Helen (Wrazin) Opera.
Jerry, as he was known, worked as a machinist for LVD Strippit, Inc. He proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, from October 9, 1957 unto his honorable discharge on August 9, 1962. He loved living near Lake Ontario in Wilson, where he fished and enjoyed the quiet life with his wife Tammy, their dogs, Lucy and Timmy and their cat, Dinah. Jerry was an amazing artist with a paint brush and loved to make music with many different instruments. He had a deep love for Jesus and leaves you with the words of John 16:22, So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy(Wysocki) Opera; his son, Paul and wife Yumi Opera of Yokohama, Japan; daughter, Susan (Opera) and David Francis of Lynchburg, VA and a grandson, James DiNardo MSGT, USAF of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, David Opera, Richard Opera, Jr. and wife, Marie, Patricia Opera, James Opera, and Suzette (Opera) and Shayne Ware and his great-niece, Olivia Ware. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann (Lloyd); brother Richard and wife, Beatrice (Clinch) Opera.
