Gordon A. Kanous

Gordon A. Kanous, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life into Paradise on February 27, 2020.  Born on June 13, 1939 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Ormie and Bernice (Brew) Kanous.  On October 2, 1965, he married Gloria A. Grochala at the former Sacred Heart Church.  

Gordie, as he was known, was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, attended local schools and graduated from the former Bishop Duffy High School in 1958.  He also attended the University at Buffalo, working towards an accounting degree. Gordie retired from TAM Ceramics, where he was employed as Quality Control Technician. He and his wife, communicants and members of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, mostly attended the Prince of Peace worship site, and occasionally St. Leo’s. Gordie loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife of over 55 years, Gordie is survived by daughters, Karen (Chris) Graue and Karol (Ron) Faust; grandchildren, Melissa Graue, Erica Graue, Christine Faust, Ariel Faust and Jacob Faust; a great-granddaughter, Lily Graue; a sister, Margaret (Bob) Houldson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Father Robert Hughson serving as celebrant.  The family will receive friends prior to Mass from 9:30-10:00 a.m.  Prayers of committal and entombment will follow Gordie’s funeral Mass in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  Family and friends invited.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Parish.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R.
