James Marvin Udy was taken to his rest on January 16, 2023. Jim was born on April 26, 1943, the son of Murray and Mary (Smith) Udy in Columbus Ohio. The family moved to Niagara Falls, NY when Jim was 12 years old.
Jim graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1960 and attended Brigham Young University where he received a degree in Agronomy after serving a Spanish-speaking mission for his church in Arizona and California.
Jim married Wendy Evans in 1965 in the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. After his graduation they made their home in Niagara Falls where Jim worked for the Niagara Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant until his retirement in 2013. Jim was an active member of the Niagara Falls ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a volunteer for Mount Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years and their children: Karen (Michael) Chang of Sunnyvale, CA; Nora Markland of Inwood, WV; Christopher (Melissa) of Niagara Falls; Adrienne (Benjamin) Sayers of Colden, NY and Robert (Michael Chiappone) of Wilson, NY. Jim is survived by his siblings: Anne (late Paul) Toner, Richard (Susan) Udy, Alan (Gloria) Udy, Rebecca (Christopher) Lindseth and Joseph (Joanna) Udy along with many nieces and nephews. Jim was ‘Papa’ to Olivia, Thomas, Abigail, Alexandra, Bennett, Katharine, Michael and Scarlett.
A private service of remembrance and interment will be held in the Chapel of Acacia Park Cemetery. There will be no prior viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J.
