Joan M. (Bochnik) Swetts, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on September 30, 2024. Born on October 30, 1934 in Plymouth, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Kozik) Bochnik and the wife of the late Bernard R. Swetts.
Joan is survived by three daughters, Ann (Jim) Baer of Wheatfield, NY, Carol (Jean) Swetts of Ransomville, NY and Jennifer Swetts of Niagara Falls, NY; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Bernadine Bochnik.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Thursday, October 10th, from 4-8 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). A private Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Cataract Church and interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be held with her family. In lieu of flowers donations me be made to Heart Love and Soul in Niagara Falls, NY. Joan’s family has entrusted her care to the Goodlander family. Joan was a homemaker and caregiver. Her very first job was at the candy counter at Boscovs in Wilkes-Barre PA and was a math teacher while still in Pennsylvania. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and caregiver. She loved cooking, sewing, painting, reading and crossword puzzles. Joan was a volunteer tutor at Niagara Catholic High School from 1977-1980, college of Misericordia University alumni, and a member of Kappa Gamma Pi Sorority. Joan received the Stuben Crystal Beaver for being the 4 millionth person to visit the Power Vista.
