John E. Hayes

John E. Hayes, 80, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on January 11, 2026 at Buffalo General Medical Center.  Born on December 31, 1945 in North Tonawanda, NY, he was the son of the late John Hayes and the late Ruth (Hellen) (late Ron) Mordick and the husband of Dorothy M. “Dottie” (Manning) Hayes.

John proudly served in the United States Navy. He was employed as a Mechanic and Truck Driver for Kenworth Trucking, until his retirement in 2002.  John also served as a Volunteer Fireman for Live Hose in North Tonawanda, NY.  He enjoyed going to car shows and motorcycles and was a “Jack-of-all-Trades." John was always there for anybody at anytime.  

In addition to his beloved wife, John is survived by children, Denise (John) Van Hoff, Patti (Randy) Tyrrell, Carey (Wally) Fuller, Amanda Hayes, Teri (late Randy) Tesch, Lori (late Henry) Sell, Tami Tesch and William M. Tesch; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, David (Kris) Mordick and Ronald (Lisa) Mordick and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, John Jr.; his former spouse, Donna Hayes; sister, Barb (late Roger) Bowen and a brothers, Glen (Debbie) Hayes and Sammy Mordick.

All are welcome to gather for visitation on Saturday, January 17th, from 12-2:30 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where John’s funeral service, concluding with Military Honors, will follow visitation at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Laura Norris-Buisch officiating.
