John G. MacGaffick

John G. MacGaffick, 83, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on September 28, 2023 at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston, NY.  Born on October 9, 1939 in Albion, NY, he was the son of the late Elmer and Thelma (Marsh) MacGaffick.  On August 19, 1961, John married Mary Jane Mooney.

John was raised and attended schools in Orleans County and came to the local area after his military service, in the United States Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam, from 1958, until he was honorably discharged in 1966.  He was employed as a truck driver for various local businesses and was a life member of the VFW on Grand Island, NY.  John was a talented mechanic and an animal lover.

In addition to his beloved wife of over 62 years, John is survived by his son, Dr. John J. (MaryArinna) MacGaffick; grandson, Jeremiah MacGaffick and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his six siblings.

All arrangements are private. If desired, memorial offings may be made to the Niagara County SPCA and/or the Erie County SPCA.
