Joseph Robert Butch, 71, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life on August 21, 2021 at his residence, with his loving family by his side. Born on August 28, 1949 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth ‘Lisa’ (nee Pierotti) Butch. On May 10, 1975, Joe married Diane Ferraro.
Mr. Butch was a lifelong resident of the Town of Niagara. Joe graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School and later earned his Associates Degree in Business from Bryant and Stratton College. He proudly served in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War, aboard the USS Ponchatoula, from May 27, 1969 until his honorable discharge on May 18, 1973. Mr. Butch was employed for 40 years, as a mail carrier, for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2010. Joe was a member and communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Parish (Prince of Peace Worship Site). He was an avid golfer and collector of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ memorabilia. Mr. Butch looked forward to his weekly breakfast with his fellow retired post office friends. Above all, family was everything and Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife of over 46 years, Mr. Butch is survived by three daughters, Kristi (Gene) McGrew, Leanne (Rick) Primerano and Kari (J.B.) Hartman; grandchildren, Lily McGrew, Joey, Riccardo and Carmela Primerano and Nicholas and Aria Hartman; sisters, Kay (late James) Boley and Judy (Brian) Aube and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). Family and friends are invited to attend Joe’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. which will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH. Prayers of committal and entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the ALS Association and/or Niagara Hospice. Professional arrangements are under the care of the Goodlander family.
