Joseph Mattoni, 75, of Wheatfield, NY, passed away on February 22. 2026, unexpectedly, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
Joe graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School, class of 1969. He proudly served in the Army National Guard June of 1970 until his honorable discharge in June of 1976. He went on to attend Niagara County Community College to achieve certificates and education that peaked his interest.
He enjoyed parachuting at a young age, enjoyed music events most of his life including going to the Riviera Theater and Gateway of North Tonawanda. Always looked forward to going to his high school reunions and spent most of his life being fit, attending a local gym, running and playing tennis.
Mr. Mattoni worked as a machine operator at Niagara Cutter in North Tonawanda for 10 years prior to its closing. Later on he worked and volunteered at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Glover Physical Therapy and moved on to be a Personal Care Aide at a few local agencies. He enjoyed volunteering at special events of the Niagara Arts & Culture Center in Niagara Falls.
Survivors include his brother, Vincent Mattoni and nieces; a great-niece a great-nephew and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Sozzie and Emily Mattoni; a sister, Antoinette Rabey and sister-in-law Helen Mattoni.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Saturday, April 11th, from 2-5 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). Donations may be made in memory of Joseph to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation and Niagara Arts & Cultural Center of Niagara Falls, NY.
