Joseph J. Wilgosz, Jr., 84, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021, with his family by his side, after an unexpected injury. Born on August 5, 1936 in Niagara Fall, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Wilgosz, Sr. and the late Lottie (nee Tomala) Wilgosz.
Joseph was born, raised and educated in Niagara Falls. He worked as a machine repairman for the General Motors Corporation in Tonawanda, NY and later transferred to Syracuse, NY. Joseph was also employed by Crucible Steel and Marsellus Casket Company. He enjoyed spending time with his children and their families. Joseph loved the Buffalo Bills and watching their games, old black and white movies and sharing stories from his fishing and hunting camp days.
Joseph is survived by his children, Kathy (Gary) Rajczak, Belinda (Jeff) Stenzel, Joseph Wilgosz, III, Helena Vennette and Beverly (Mark) Fencil; grandchildren, Randy, Autumn, Kelsey, Sarah, Kyle and Riley; three great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Mary); a sister, Christine and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by a brother, Leo and former spouses, Marie (nee Pozzi) Connor and Brenda (nee Cooper) Wilgosz.
The family will be present on Friday from 3-7 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). Joseph’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 6th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at the Prince of Peace Church worship site, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Robert Hughson serving as celebrant. Everyone assemble at the church. Friends invited. Private prayers of committal and interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Masks and social distancing will be required for your safety at all gatherings.
