NICOSIA-Kathryn E. (nee Spring)
Age 97, also known as Betty and Kay, of Akron, NY, died September 6, 2023. Born on January 31, 1926 in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Iva (nee Snyder) Spring. On June 7, 1947, she married Emmanuel ‘Mun’ Nicosia. He predeceased her on November 8, 2012. Kathryn was a graduate of the class of 1946 from Deaconess Hospital, where she earned her registered nursing degree. She was employed at the former Erie County Home. Kathryn is survived by children, Mary Jo (late Robert) Janiszeski, David Nicosia and Debra (late Charles) Rebmann; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; former daughters-in-law, Patricia Nicosia and Patti Nicosia Ferreri and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Joseph and her 8 siblings. The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, from 3-8 p.m., at the ROSS FUNERAL HOME OF AKRON, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, NY. Kathryn’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 13th, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Teresa of Avila Parish, 5771 Buell Street, Akron, NY, with Rev. Art Mattulke serving as celebrant. Family and friends all assemble at the church. Private interment in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Alden, NY.
