Leon Guiliani, Sr. Life story

Leon Arthur Guiliani, Sr., 86, of the Town of Niagara, passed away on December 30, 2019 at Niagara Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.  Born on January 6, 1933 in Iron Mountain, MI, he was the son of the late Julius and Helen (Wygonik) Guiliani.  On June 4, 1955, Leon married the former Jean Weber at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Church.

Leon came to Niagara Falls in 1945 and attended North Junior High School and Trott Vocational.  He proudly served in the United States Army, during the Korean War, from November 3, 1952 until his honorable discharge on November 5, 1954.  Leon was employed by Lehigh Valley Railroad, Empire concrete as a mixer driver and Union Carbide as a millwright and electrician.  He worked security for the Town of Niagara Police Department at Grants Department Store and Kmart.

Leon was a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen’s Club and served as Past Assistant Chief of Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Company.  He enjoyed spending time with his uncle Walter, cutting trees and pouring concrete, the family cottage in Novar, Ontario and his hunting camp in Short Tract, as an avid hunter and fisherman. In his early retirement, Leon loved his time spent with his children and grandchildren.  On their 50th wedding anniversary, he surprised Jean with a trip to Hawaii.

In addition to his beloved wife, Leon is survived by children, Leon Arthur Guiliani, Jr., Cheryl (Jerry) Reed, Debra (Sam) Perricelli and Lori (Bill) Poirier; grandchildren, Craig, Thomas, Heather, Louis, Danny P., Vinnie, Danny K., Courtney, Rachel, Cody, Nichole and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Aleseah, Samantha, Camryn, Brianna, Aubree and Cooper; sister, Darlene (late Robert) Brovata; sister-in-laws, Trish (Carl) Timko and Diana (Larry) Wilt; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a good friend, Eugene “Sonny” Goodin.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, late Gary (Margaret) Guiliani and late Michael (late Jean) Guiliani and a brother-in-law, late Howard (Eileen) Weber.
