Marjorie Novak Life story

Marjorie E. (Argy) Novak, 87, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on February 16, 2024 at Niagara Hospice House.  Born on September 19, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Michael ‘Jimmy’ Argy and the late Leona (Goodbrodt) Argy.  On June 30, 1956, Marjorie married Michael W. Novak.  He predeceased her on October 18, 1982.

Marjorie was a lifelong area resident.  She graduated from Stella Niagara High School and attended Niagara County Community College after raising her family.  Marjorie, with her husband, were the owners and operators of Michael's Food Shop, until they sold in 1974.  She also worked for Jenss Department Store, Niagara Falls Public Library and retired from the Niagara County Department of Social Services.

Marjorie was a communicant of both the former St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Church and St. Jude the Apostle Church. She had an infectious loving heart, a firm faith in Jesus Christ, and prayed for all who needed prayer.  Marjorie enjoyed traveling with friends, reading, watching old movies, crossword puzzles, music, watching Jeopardy, and was up to date on entertainment trivia.

Marjorie is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Novak, Ellen (Robert) Pelkey, and Janet (Gary Burns) Novak; granddaughters, Mikael and Kyle Pelkey; her sister, Patricia (late Robert) McCoy; dear friend, Sandy Onofrio and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
