Martha Mathison Life story

Martha P. (Padgett) Mathison, 102, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on April 13, 2026 at her residence.  Born on September 24, 1923 in Brooklyn Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Andrew and Elizabeth (Spence) Padgett and the wife of the late John E. 'John Ed' Mathison, Sr., married on January 4, 1948 in Red Level, AL.

 

Martha came to Niagara Falls, NY in 1955 with her husband and children. 

 

Martha is survived by children, Elizabeth (late Manuel Belasco) Mathison, John E. (Peggy) Mathison Jr.; grandchildren, Christina (Dan) Leary, Claire (Joshua) Fulton, Ryan and Nick (Nicole) Mathison, TJ (Cole) Snell and Brian Velsy; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Juli Dohring and Isaiah and Raina Fulton, Carter Snell and Salvatore and Francesca Mathison. In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was predeceased by one son, Armin Mathison. 

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25th, from 10-11 a.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where Martha’s funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.
