Mary Maurine (Browning) Brown, known to many as Maurine, 92, of Lewiston, NY, transitioned from her earthly life to Eternal Life while at home with her family, on October 22, 2025. Born on September 17, 1933 in Dadeville, AL, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mirie Jewel (Thomaston) Browning and the wife of George L. Brown.
Maurine attended schools in Alabama and came to the local area in 1953. After raising her family, she was employed by Lewiston-Porter Central School District as well as Summit Pediatrics. Maurine was a very active member of Hickory College Church and the United Baptist-Christian Church both in Lewiston, NY as well as Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Dadeville, AL. Maurine has served on the Board of Directors of Christian Heights Camp for generations. But she didn't just sit on the Board. She served in the kitchen, taught Bible class, painted buildings, taught songs to the staff and campers (she loved to sing and play her piano), assisted in the construction of Camp facilities, served as an EMT at Camp and the list goes on. As a teen, she sang and accompanied church quartets. Above all, Maurine had a loving heart, loved children and was a Mother to many.
In addition to her beloved husband, Maurine is survived by children, Deborah (Wayne) Stoia, Donna (Charles) Pleckham, Diana Lori (Timothy) Adamson and Melissa (late Jason) Ruta; she and her husband were family to his children, Kurt (Sheryll) Brown, Matthew Brown, Rebecca (Jeff) Miller and Stacey Brown; grandchildren, Luke (Ashleigh), Trevor (Kelly), Nicholas (Lauren), Thomas (Jessica), Jonathan (Katie), Nicole (Jimmy), Danielle (Matthew), Christian, Jenny (Aaron), Katie (DeQuon), Joshua, Jessica, Jacob, Josephine, Jaime, Jeremiah, Eddie (Tiffany), Oscar and Seth; several great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband, Don Duke and brothers, Arvin and Norman.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Tuesday, from 4-7 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).
