Michael J. Freeman, 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on April 25, 2022. Born on May 14, 1947 in Waltham, MA, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Anne (Bourgeois) Freeman. On April 10, 2006, Michael married the former Karen E. Eichholz.
Michael graduated from Waltham High School and went on to Wentworth Institute in Boston, where he received his Associates Degree in Engineering. He then earned his Masters Degree in Engineering from Texas A&M University, also serving in their Army ROTC program. Following his education, Michael was employed by Stone & Webster Engineering in Boston which relocated him to Connecticut for several years. He later came to Niagara Falls and retired from the New York State Power Authority, employed as an engineer. Michael was a member and congregant of Riverside Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was an avid New England Patriot’s fan and enjoyed attending Buffalo Bills games, collecting antiques and history.
In addition to his beloved wife, Michael is survived by children, Suzanne (Christopher) Ianelli and Kenneth (Nicole) Freeman; step-children, John (late Helen) Reynolds, Terra Pigeault, Thomas (Kelly) Reynolds and Charlotte Robinson; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Doug (Debbi) Freeman; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his former spouse, Diane McColgan. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Freeman.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday, April 29th from 4-6 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007) where Michael’s funeral service and life celebration will begin at 5:00 p.m., with Rev. Laura Norris-Buisch officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church.
